Headteacher's Welcome

I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as the new Headteacher for Pilgrims’ Way Primary School and Nursery, and I am very keen to get to know parents, as well as the pupils and staff.

Pilgrims’ Way Primary School and Nursery has recently been through a challenging period and I am looking forward to finding out more about the school so that the changes we make, in this new chapter of the school’s history, are supported by the whole school community: I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together. Parents and carers make a vital contribution to children’s achievements at school, and I believe in building strong relationships with parents and carers in order to make sure all children get the very best from belonging to Pilgrims’ Way Primary and Nursery School.

My philosophy for education is one based around the edict of ‘irresistible learning for all’ where we, working together, ensure the best by every child. I hold a  strong  child-centred  approach  to  teaching,  where  consistency,  praise,  encouragement  yet challenge  are  key.  I believe that all children are amazing and have unique potential waiting to be unlocked.

It is  a  privilege,  as  a  teacher  and  a  leader,  to  be  able  to  inspire,  enthuse,  motivate  and nurture children to fully achieve this.  I am passionate and committed to my core values that include honesty, respect and integrity.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the pupils, staff and governors of Pilgrims’ Way Primary school and Nursery who have  already made  a  positive  impression  on  me  during  my  recent  visits  before Easter and  made  me  feel incredibly  welcome.    Seeing  their  enthusiasm  and  love  of  their  school  made  it  an  easy  decision  to want to come and be your new Head Teacher. The energy and enthusiasm the staff team demonstrate is something I have already noticed and am excited about. I very much look forward to building on the good work currently being done in this wonderful school.

I will be holding a number of events over the next term, which will provide an opportunity to meet you and discuss the building of a successful partnership. These meetings will take place at different times, which I hope will enable most families to attend. If you prefer, you are also welcome to contact me by email or phone.
