Welcome to the final two terms of the year.
There will be a lot happening in year 5 and 6 over terms 5 and 6. The year 6s have been working hard and will sit their SATs, we wish them all luck.
We will be looking at a variety of famous people in our topic of ‘Inspirational People’. Charles Darwin, Roald Dahl and Sir Edmund Hilary to name a few…
There will also be a few trips coming up, year 6 will be spending the weekend away at PGL and year 5 are going canoeing.
Swimming will also be approaching so make sure the forms and money are in to the office.
Children need to remember to have their PE kit in school on either Monday or Tuesday (depending on class) as they will be preparing for sports day at the end of the year.
Please feel free to ask any of the teachers any questions you may have regarding the Kent Test for the current year 5 in September.
We hope you had an amazing Summer Holiday and are ready to work hard.
This term we will be learning about WWII. We will be reading ‘Goodnight Mister Tom’ during English and Reading sessions and studying the reasons behind and consequences of WWII during Topic lessons in the afternoon.
In Science we will be learning about materials and incorporating WWII into some lessons to discuss why certain materials were chosen for different uses during the war.
PE will be on Monday for Swordfish and Seahorse and a Tuesday for Dolphin so please make sure you have your kit in school on those days. We will also be continuing with the daily mile every day after break so remember your trainers if you prefer.
Everyone is expected to read for 20 minutes minimum every night and homework will go home on a Friday to be completed by the following Thursday. The children will have a piece of maths linked to the week’s topic and a person or object to research.
