Year 6 - Nightingale Class
Welcome to Nightingale Class. Our class teacher is Mrs Cole and our teaching assistant is Mrs Sobhani.
Welcome back to Term 2.
This is always an exciting term as we enjoy the run up to Christmas! We will have a new exciting Geography enquiry this term and we will read a new book which is related to this topic. We will also practise our fractions knowledge! I am looking forward to some challenges and and fun learning.
Enquiry Question - Geography
What is a River?
Throughout this topic, we will be learning about how rivers are formed, their uses and the impact that they have on communities around the world. We will understand the physical and human features of different rivers and their environmental impact.
Reading
Our book this term is: Song of the River by Gill Lewis.
This is a beautiful story of a girl and her mother relocating to a new area to live after being affected by a devastating flood. We will follow their journey as they rebuild their lives and find out how beavers might be able to help their new home environment.
Please encourage your child to read every day at home! Reading helps to improve writing and all areas of academic work.
Forest School
Our Forest School days are now every other Monday: Monday 4th and 18th November and 2nd and 16th December.
Please remember to send children in with their Forest School kit in a bag, as they will change after lunch. Please ensure the Forest School clothes are appropriate for the weather that day.
Please send in wellies that can be kept in school to utilise the outdoor learning spaces every day.
P.E
Our P.E lessons will be on a Wednesday afternoon. This term, we will be learning Netball. Please send the children into school with their P.E kits in their bag. Please ensure the P.E kits are suitable for outdoor P.E - we will try and learn outside when the weather allows. PE trainers need to be different from school trainers.
