Computing

At Pilgrims' Way, we aim to ensure that children become digitally literate and active participants in a digital world. We follow the Kapow scheme of work for computing and this fulfils all the statutory requirements outlined in the National Curriculum.

Our computing curriculum identifies three key strands that run throughout. These are:

  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Digital Literacy

These strands are delivered to the children through five repeating areas:

  • Computing systems and networks
  • Programming
  • Creating Media
  • Data Handling
  • Online Safety

Upon returning to each key area, prior knowledge is utilised so that our children can build on previous foundations, rather than starting again. Online safety is revisited at the start of every computing unit of work to ensure that our children are using the internet as safely as possible.
