Religious Education

At Pilgrims' Way, we believe that Religious Education (R.E.) plays a vital role in helping our children develop an understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures and beliefs that make up our school and wider community. Following the Kapow R.E. scheme, our curriculum is designed to be inclusive, fostering respect, empathy, and understanding for all.

The Kapow Primary scheme builds children’s knowledge of religious concepts through combining substantive, disciplinary and personal knowledge in an enquiry based approach. These concepts are grouped into four key concepts areas:

  • Beliefs
  • Practices
  • Wisdom and morality
  • Community and belonging

Within each key concept area, specific concepts are covered progressively as children move through the scheme.

Through engaging lessons, students explore a variety of religions, worldviews, and philosophical questions, promoting open-mindedness and tolerance. We celebrate the rich diversity within our school, encouraging pupils to share and reflect on their own beliefs while respecting others.

Our approach ensures that children of all faiths, and none, feel valued and included. We aim to nurture thoughtful, informed individuals who are ready to contribute positively to the multicultural society in which they live.
