PSHE

At Pilgrims' Way, we recognise the importance of Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education in helping our children develop into well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals. PSHE forms an integral part of our curriculum and contributes to our pupils’ overall wellbeing, helping them to develop the knowledge, skills, and values they need to thrive both in and beyond school life.

We follow the Jigsaw scheme of work, a mindful and comprehensive approach to PSHE that is specifically designed to support children’s personal development in a safe and nurturing environment. Through Jigsaw, we teach PSHE in a way that connects learning across six key themes, known as 'Puzzles,' which are covered over the course of the year. These include:

  • Being Me in My World
  • Celebrating Difference
  • Dreams and Goals
  • Healthy Me
  • Relationships
  • Changing Me

Each theme builds on the last, ensuring a progressive and cohesive learning experience that promotes emotional literacy, resilience, and mental and physical health. The Jigsaw approach also integrates mindfulness, helping children to manage their feelings and focus on their learning.

We believe that PSHE is key to fostering a positive school culture and plays a vital role in preparing our pupils to become caring, responsible citizens who make healthy and informed decisions. By embedding PSHE in our teaching, we support every child in developing their self-awareness, confidence, and the ability to form meaningful relationships, ensuring they are well-equipped for life.
