Term 5

Enquiry Question - History

Were the Vikings raiders, traders or settlers?

This enquiry follows on from our last history unit of the Anglo-Saxons. The Vikings invaded Britain during the Anglo-Saxon time period and conquered a piece of land for themselves - The Danelaw. We will look at where the Vikings came from, how they impacted Britain and where else in the world they visited.

Forest School

Our Forest School days are: Thursday 24th April and 1st May.

Please send your child into school wearing their school uniform with a Forest School kit in a bag. Please ensure the Forest School clothes are appropriate for the weather that day.

Please send in wellies that can be kept in school to utilise the outdoor learning spaces every day.

Our PE lessons will be on a Tuesday afternoon. This term, we will be learning a combination of gymnastics and dance. We will be in the school hall for these lessons, so please send in the appropriate PE kit.

Please make sure earrings are able to be removed by the child or taped up - this is a safety precaution.

Reading

Our book this term is: Riddle of the Runes by Janina Ramirez.

This adventurous books follows a young girl and her pet wolf as they try to solve a kidnapping and achieve her mission of becoming an investigator for her tribe.

Please encourage your child to read every day at home! The more children read the better they perform in all areas of their life.

Please contact our teaching team if you would like any support with reading at home.

Key skills

All children have log-in details for TTRockstars. We would encourage children to avoid/limit screen time; however, if they are using a device, please encourage the children to practice their key skills of times tables with websites like these.
